Best Ever Garlic Bread

Title Says It All

1   loaf fresh French bread
0.25 cup   butter (you may need more)
6 cloves   garlic, minced
2 tbsp   Parmesan or Asiago
1 tsp   salt
2 tsp   ground black pepper
1 tsp   garlic powder
1 tsp   cayenne pepper
2 tbsp   fresh parsley, chopped
1. Preheat broiler. Slice bread in half lengthwise.

2. Combine butter, garlic, cheese, salt, pepper, garlic powder and cayenne. Mix to form a paste. Spread over both lengths of bread. Sprinkle with half the parsely.

3. Now for soft garlic bread wrap up both lengths in tinfoil and broil until butter is melted and cheese is softened. Or for a crisp, crunchy topping lay both halves of the loaf uncovered under the broiler until top is slightly golden.

4. Sprinkle reserved parsley over top. Slice and serve.

A terrific accompaniment to Spaghetti with Italian Meatballs.
