Le Pain Perdue Fabuleuse

The best part of waking up...

12 slices   Sourdough bread, thickly sliced
1 cup 250 ml   Milk
3   Eggs
1 tsp 5 ml   Vanilla
0.5 tsp 2 ml   Cinnamon
0.5 tsp 2 ml   Nutmeg
2 tbsp 30 ml   Butter
1. Thickly slice the sourdough bread into 12 large pieces. Whisk milk, eggs, vanilla and spices together in a shallow dish.

2. Heat a large frying pan over medium heat, and melt the butter in the pan. Soak each piece of bread in the eggy mixture evenly on both sides.

3. In batches of two, fry each slice of toast for about 2 minutes per side until the bread is goldeny brown. Add more butter to the pan if it runs dry.

4. Serve with butter, syrup, whipping cream and fresh fruit.
