Mashed Yams

1. Peel yams and chop into quarters. Bring a medium pot of water to boil. Add the yams, and cook until very soft-around 10-15 minutes. 2. Drain water. Add milk, butter, garlic, and pepper to the yams. Mash well. 3. Toss pecans on top. Sauteing the pecans in balsamic vinegar, chili and curry powder or brown sugar beforehand, would add a little tasty zing.
